What Is Bittorrent?

The long winter.

Bittorrent is the token grafted onto a protocol older than crypto itself: BitTorrent, the file-sharing network born in 2001, acquired by Justin Sun's Tron in 2018, with BTT launched to pay seeders for bandwidth. A twenty-year-old protocol with a token bolted on draws a particular kind of crowd, and ours shows exactly what kind: patient, grim, and capable of sulks measured in months.

The CFGI read: Bittorrent's crowd spent 56 of the past 365 days in Extreme Fear, the fifth highest count among the tokens we rank, and its average of 39 out of 100 makes it the seventh most fearful crowd by mean. The floor was an 8 out of 100 on 7 May 2026 with the price at $0.00000032, and it fell there almost alone: just 4 of the 64 tokens we scored that day closed in Fear or worse. The market was calm. Bittorrent was not, and mostly is not.

Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

The defining stretch began on 25 March 2026, when sentiment collapsed 37 points in a day, from 57 to 20. From that day the crowd closed in Fear or worse for 84 consecutive days, through six straight sessions of Extreme Fear from 26 to 31 March, and did not surface until 16 June 2026. Nearly a quarter of the year passed in one unbroken winter, while the price slid from $0.00000069 to a low of $0.00000026 on 13 June 2026, part of a 59.4% fall across the year as a whole.

Even the thaws are modest. The year's high was 67 out of 100 on 24 August 2025, capping its longest run in Greed or better at just three days, reached off the back of a 42-point single-day jump from 21 to 63 on 22 August. There have been no Extreme Greed days at all. And yet the file ends on its warmest note in months: 59 on 26 July 2026, in Neutral, within eight points of the yearly high, the winter crowd of the main Fear and Greed Index briefly standing in the sun.

Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index today?

The Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index today is 34/100 on the daily view, showing Fear. It summarizes live Bittorrent market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one Bittorrent fear and greed reading.

What is a good Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the Bittorrent market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the Bittorrent market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index updated?

The Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as Bittorrent market conditions shift.

What does a low Bittorrent Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the Bittorrent market.

What does a high Bittorrent Fear and Greed score mean?

A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the Bittorrent market.

Can I get alerts when the Bittorrent Fear and Greed Index changes?
