Widget Questions
Is the CFGI widget really free?
Yes. Every CFGI Fear and Greed widget, crypto and stock alike, is free to embed on websites, blogs, dashboards and community pages. No account and no API key are required. The snippet ships with a short attribution line beneath it, and we ask you to keep it.
What does my site get from one line of code?
A hosted Fear and Greed widget covering either market index or any single crypto token or stock, on your choice of timeframe, in a dark or light theme, updating automatically from CFGI.
Which assets can I embed?
All 600 that CFGI scores: 300 crypto tokens and 300 stocks, plus both market composites. Use the ticker as the symbol, for example symbol=BTC, symbol=ETH, symbol=AAPL or symbol=NVDA.
Can I embed a whole market index?
Yes. Use symbol=MARKET for the market-wide Crypto Fear and Greed Index, or symbol=STOCK_MARKET for the stock market index.
Can I change the theme, size and colour?
Yes. Use theme=dark or theme=light, set an accent colour to match your brand, and set the iframe width and height to fit your layout. Sentiment colours stay semantic so a reading always means the same thing.
What is the difference between the gauge and the report?
The gauge is a live dial showing the current Fear and Greed reading. The report is a written daily, weekly or monthly recap: the score, the move over the period, the high and low, the price change, days by sentiment zone and what is driving the reading. Both update automatically.
Can I embed without an iframe?
Yes. The image badge is a live PNG you embed with a standard image tag, wrapped in a link back to that asset. It refreshes on CFGI servers and works in GitHub READMEs, email and no-code blocks. There is a Markdown version for READMEs and docs sites.
Does the widget slow my page down?
No. The embed loads lazily, ships no third-party fonts or trackers, and renders as a single self-contained document.
When should I use the API instead?
Use the free widget when you want a finished visual embed. Use the CFGI API when you want raw sentiment data inside your own app, bot, model or interface, including the 10 sub-signals, with history back to 2022 on the majors.
Do I need to keep the attribution link?
Yes. Each snippet includes a short line linking back to that asset on CFGI.io, so your readers can open the full index and so the free embed stays sustainable. It is the same courtesy you would extend to any data source you quote.
