What Is yearn.finance?
DeFi's fair-launch elder.
yearn.finance is the yield aggregator Andre Cronje released in the summer of 2020 with what became crypto's most famous fair launch: all 30,000 YFI distributed to users, none kept back for the founder. Its vaults automate yield strategies across DeFi, and the token became a symbol of protocol ownership done straight. The crowd it draws is an older, DeFi-native one, and its first weeks on the CFGI yearn.finance fear and greed index look exactly like that: unexcitable.
The CFGI read: In its first 17 days on the index since 10 July 2026, YFI has closed in Neutral 15 times. Its first wobble came immediately, a two-day dip into Fear on 11 and 12 July that bottomed at 33 out of 100 with the price at $2,086, on a day when 96 of the cryptos we score sat in Fear or worse. The crowd shrugged it off inside twenty-four hours, jumping 14 points to 47 on 13 July, still its biggest move in either direction.
yearn.finance Fear and Greed Index History
Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.
It is far too early to talk about character in full, but the opening sample is consistent: a score range of just 33 to 55, an average of 47, and Greed of any kind barely registering. The price has matched the mood, drifting 3.8% lower from $2,189 on day one, also the window high, to $2,105, with the low of $2,062 printed on 17 July 2026.
The one flash of temper was an 11-point drop on 22 July, from 55 to 44, that unwound within days. YFI closed the window at 49, Neutral, almost exactly where its average sits, one of the calmest new arrivals on the Fear and Greed Index, a token that has already seen every cycle DeFi can throw at it and scores like it.

YFI Fear and Greed Index FAQ
What is the YFI Fear and Greed Index today?
The YFI Fear and Greed Index today is 47/100 on the daily view, showing Neutral. It summarizes live YFI market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.
How is the YFI Fear and Greed Index calculated?
CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one YFI fear and greed reading.
What is a good YFI Fear and Greed Index reading?
There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.
How accurate is the YFI Fear and Greed Index?
It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the YFI market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.
What does the YFI Fear and Greed Index measure?
It measures the emotional state of the YFI market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.
How do I use the YFI Fear and Greed Index?
Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.
How often is the YFI Fear and Greed Index updated?
The YFI Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as YFI market conditions shift.
What does a low YFI Fear and Greed score mean?
A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the YFI market.
What does a high YFI Fear and Greed score mean?
A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the YFI market.
