What Is Stellar?

The veteran's shrug.

Stellar is one of crypto's elder statesmen, a payments network launched in 2014 by Jed McCaleb to move money across borders the way email moves text, now carrying stablecoins, tokenised assets and smart contracts for a decade's worth of partners. On the CFGI Stellar fear and greed index it is also one of our longest-running records, scored since 29 March 2022, and the crowd it has gathered behaves exactly the way the network sells itself: unhurried, unimpressed, and very hard to terrify.

The CFGI read: Across the past year Stellar has not printed a single day of Extreme Fear, ranking 103rd of the tokens we rank by days in that zone, and it held that composure through a 59.3% price decline, from $0.4427 to $0.18. On 5 February 2026, the day 98 of its 102 ranked peers sat in Fear or worse and 10 in Extreme Fear, XLM's floor was 22 out of 100, Fear and no further. The one extreme emotion this crowd allowed itself all year was greed: a single day at 84, Extreme Greed, on 29 May 2026.

Stellar Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

The year's ledger runs 91 days of Fear, 239 of Neutral, 34 of Greed and that lone day of Extreme Greed, for an average of 46 out of 100. The dark stretch came early, an 11-day Fear-or-worse run from 12 to 22 November 2025, and the sharpest recovery of the year followed soon after the price peak era: a 28-point jump on 13 October 2025, from 29 to 57. The price high of $0.4557 was printed on 8 August 2025, and the long slide from it defined the rest of the record.

The most telling sequence is May 2026. The price bottomed at $0.1436 on 19 May 2026, and ten days later, on 29 May 2026, the crowd printed its Extreme Greed peak of 84 with the price back at $0.2605, riding a five-day Greed-or-better run from 28 May to 1 June 2026 that ended with a 19-point drop, from 79 to 60, on 1 June 2026. A crowd that saves its only extreme for the rebound, not the collapse, is a patient one. On 26 July 2026 Stellar reads 34, Fear, below the Neutral 51 of the main Fear and Greed Index, a veteran's caution at the end of a year that took more than half the price and none of the composure.

Stellar Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the Stellar Fear and Greed Index today?

The Stellar Fear and Greed Index today is 49/100 on the daily view, showing Neutral. It summarizes live Stellar market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the Stellar Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one Stellar fear and greed reading.

What is a good Stellar Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the Stellar Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the Stellar market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the Stellar Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the Stellar market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the Stellar Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the Stellar Fear and Greed Index updated?

The Stellar Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as Stellar market conditions shift.

What does a low Stellar Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the Stellar market.

What does a high Stellar Fear and Greed score mean?

A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the Stellar market.

Can I get alerts when the Stellar Fear and Greed Index changes?

Yes. CFGI alerts let you track Stellar sentiment across daily, 4-hour, 1-hour and 15-minute timeframes. Create alerts for fear, greed, extreme readings or specific Stellar Fear and Greed Index score changes.
