What Is Sonic?

Bleeding without breaking.

Sonic is the chain Fantom became, a high-speed EVM layer 1 rebuilt by Sonic Labs around sub-second finality and a fee model that pays developers for the traffic their apps generate, with the S token succeeding FTM. It carries the reputation of its best-known architect, Andre Cronje, and the expectations of a DeFi ecosystem that once defined a bull market. On the CFGI Sonic fear and greed index it carries something else: the steepest price collapse a crowd can absorb while stopping short of outright capitulation.

The CFGI read: Sonic's price fell 92.2% across its 346 days on the index, from $0.296 to $0.0231, and its crowd hardly ever reached Extreme Fear. The low, 21 out of 100 on 11 October 2025 at $0.1782, came on the broadest panic we have measured, when 93 of the 96 tokens then tracked closed in Fear or worse and 17 of them in Extreme Fear. Sonic had just taken its hardest single-day hit, 25 points from 49 to 24 on 10 October 2025, and still refused the bottom zone.

Sonic Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

Since 15 August 2025 the ledger reads 132 days in Fear, 207 in Neutral and just 7 in Greed, with both extremes barely registering. The average of 42 still makes this the 16th most fearful crowd among the tokens we have ranked: not panic, but a permanent low-grade dread that outlasted every rally.

The strangest entry is the high. Sonic's best reading, 66 out of 100 on 8 May 2026, printed at $0.05381, less than a third of the price its October fear low carried. By spring the crowd had repriced its expectations so completely that a bounce to five cents felt like Greed, a five-day run from 6 to 10 May 2026 that stands as its only sustained optimism, followed by a 22-point jump from 37 to 59 on 21 May 2026.

The gloom ran longer: 15 straight days in Fear or worse from 28 January to 11 February 2026, and a price that kept sliding to $0.02008 on 25 June 2026. Today Sonic sits at 32, Fear, one weary line in the picture the full crypto and stock Fear and Greed Index draws across the whole market.

Sonic Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the Sonic Fear and Greed Index today?

The Sonic Fear and Greed Index today is 44/100 on the daily view, showing Neutral. It summarizes live Sonic market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the Sonic Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one Sonic fear and greed reading.

What is a good Sonic Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the Sonic Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the Sonic market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the Sonic Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the Sonic market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the Sonic Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the Sonic Fear and Greed Index updated?

The Sonic Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as Sonic market conditions shift.

What does a low Sonic Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the Sonic market.

What does a high Sonic Fear and Greed score mean?

A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the Sonic market.

Can I get alerts when the Sonic Fear and Greed Index changes?

Yes. CFGI alerts let you track Sonic sentiment across daily, 4-hour, 1-hour and 15-minute timeframes. Create alerts for fear, greed, extreme readings or specific Sonic Fear and Greed Index score changes.
