What Is Numeraire?
The quant's mood swing.
Numeraire is the token of Numerai, the San Francisco hedge fund founded by Richard Craib that crowdsources its trading models from thousands of data scientists, who stake NMR on their own predictions and lose the stake when the models fail. It is a token engineered to price conviction and punish noise. The CFGI Numeraire fear and greed index measures the part that mechanism cannot reach: how the crowd holding NMR actually feels.
The CFGI read: Numeraire's first 17 days on the index sketch a full round trip. A 16 point jump on 13 July 2026 launched a three-day run in Greed, peaking at 67 out of 100 on 14 July with the price at its $10.22 high. Nine days later the crowd stood at the other end of its range, a 32 floor on 23 July at $9.08, on a day when 122 of the coins we track closed in Fear or worse. The whole emotional span, 35 points, fit inside nine days.
Numeraire Fear and Greed Index History
Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.
Numeraire's ledger since 10 July 2026 shows 4 days in Greed, 10 in Neutral and 3 in Fear, an average of 49 that hides how much travelling the score did to earn it. The instability showed on day two, a 15 point drop on 11 July from 58 to 43, and the price has drifted 10.5% lower over the window, from $10.00 to $8.95, with its low of $8.94 on 25 July.
It closes at 43, Neutral, part of what the combined crypto and stock Fear and Greed Index reads across the whole market. There is a neat irony in the record: a token built to make prediction dispassionate, held by a crowd whose first 17 days ran the scale from Greed to Fear and back to the middle.

NMR Fear and Greed Index FAQ
What is the NMR Fear and Greed Index today?
The NMR Fear and Greed Index today is 39/100 on the daily view, showing Fear. It summarizes live NMR market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.
How is the NMR Fear and Greed Index calculated?
CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one NMR fear and greed reading.
What is a good NMR Fear and Greed Index reading?
There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.
How accurate is the NMR Fear and Greed Index?
It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the NMR market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.
What does the NMR Fear and Greed Index measure?
It measures the emotional state of the NMR market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.
How do I use the NMR Fear and Greed Index?
Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.
How often is the NMR Fear and Greed Index updated?
The NMR Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as NMR market conditions shift.
What does a low NMR Fear and Greed score mean?
A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the NMR market.
What does a high NMR Fear and Greed score mean?
A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the NMR market.
