What Is Internet Computer?

Euphoria on a short fuse.

Internet Computer is DFINITY's attempt to host the internet itself on a blockchain: websites, software and data served directly from a decentralised network of node machines, no cloud provider in the loop. ICP has carried that outsized ambition since its 2021 launch, and its crowd carries an outsized temperament to match. We have scored it since 28 June 2022, and the past year on the CFGI Internet Computer fear and greed index has been a study in how fast conviction can turn.

The CFGI read: ICP's year ran the full length of the scale, from 19 out of 100 in Extreme Fear on 11 October 2025 to 88 in Extreme Greed on 8 November 2025, four weeks apart. The peak reading landed on the exact day of the price high, $9.02, and the comedown was the most violent we recorded for the token: a 35-point collapse from 80 to 45 on 10 November, one day after a six-day Extreme Greed streak ended.

Internet Computer Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

The 11 October 2025 low was not a private panic. That day 93 of the 96 tokens then tracked sat in Fear or worse and 17 were in Extreme Fear, the broadest extreme-fear day of the whole year, and ICP printed its low at a price of $3.13. Two days later the crowd swung 25 points, from 26 to 51, the token's biggest single-day jump.

The November euphoria did not survive the winter. From 28 January to 24 February 2026 ICP logged 28 straight days in Fear or worse, its longest such run, while the price ground down to $2.09 on 23 February. It was a stretch in which the full Fear and Greed Index printed its own low for the year, 12 out of 100 on 5 February 2026, so the whole market was in the dark with it. Across the full year the ledger reads 1 day of Extreme Fear, 158 of Fear, 179 of Neutral, 21 of Greed and 6 of Extreme Greed, an average of 43, with the price down 62.2% from $5.75 to $2.18.

That mix leaves ICP the 25th most fearful crowd by average of the tokens we rank across our crypto markets, closing the year at 43, Neutral, almost exactly its own mean. Six days of Extreme Greed against 159 at Fear or worse: a crowd that mostly worries, and occasionally, briefly, believes.
