What Is ETHGas?
Eighteen days of Fear.
ETHGas is infrastructure for what it calls realtime Ethereum. It turns blockspace into something that can be bought in advance, letting applications lock in execution and costs instead of bidding blind in the fee auction, and GWEI is the governance token that steers the protocol. There is a plain irony in the sentiment record: a system built to make Ethereum predictable is owned, so far, by a crowd that has known almost nothing but Fear.
The CFGI read: ETHGas spent its first 18 days on the index, 8 July to 25 July 2026, entirely in Fear. Its first close outside the zone only came on 26 July 2026, and that reading, a Neutral 41 out of 100, is simultaneously the highest score it has ever printed. The floor was 20 on 9 July, the lifetime average just 27. This is what capitulation at birth looks like in the data.
ETHGas Fear and Greed Index History
Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.
The price explains the mood. GWEI opened its window on 8 July 2026 at $0.0866, its high, and closed 19 days later at $0.0202, a 76.7% collapse, with the low of $0.0201 struck on 23 July. Nothing in the sentiment record fought that fall: the biggest daily drop was a modest seven points on 20 July, because there was never much height to fall from.
The turn, if it is one, is recent. On 24 July the score jumped 11 points, 25 to 36, its largest rise, and two days later it crossed into Neutral for the first time. Context matters for the young: on its worst day, 9 July, 71 of the 193 crypto assets then scored sat in Fear or worse, so ETHGas was gloomy in gloomy company. It now reads 41 while the broader Fear and Greed Index sits at a Neutral 51, a gap the coming weeks will close one way or the other.

GWEI Fear and Greed Index FAQ
What is the GWEI Fear and Greed Index today?
The GWEI Fear and Greed Index today is 29/100 on the daily view, showing Fear. It summarizes live GWEI market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.
How is the GWEI Fear and Greed Index calculated?
CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one GWEI fear and greed reading.
What is a good GWEI Fear and Greed Index reading?
There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.
How accurate is the GWEI Fear and Greed Index?
It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the GWEI market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.
What does the GWEI Fear and Greed Index measure?
It measures the emotional state of the GWEI market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.
How do I use the GWEI Fear and Greed Index?
Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.
How often is the GWEI Fear and Greed Index updated?
The GWEI Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as GWEI market conditions shift.
What does a low GWEI Fear and Greed score mean?
A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the GWEI market.
What does a high GWEI Fear and Greed score mean?
A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the GWEI market.
