What Is Data Network?
The pivot on probation.
Data Network is a blockchain reinventing itself in public. It began life as Story Protocol, the a16z-backed Layer 1 for on-chain intellectual property, then rebranded in June 2026 and migrated its IP token one for one into DATA, refocusing the entire chain on sourcing, verifying and licensing the data that trains AI models. A pivot that sharp resets a crowd's convictions, and the CFGI Data Network fear and greed index switched on just as the new identity was being tested.
The CFGI read: The crowd began at its most doubtful. Data Network's first print, on 8 July 2026, was its floor: 18 out of 100 and its only Extreme Fear day, on a session when 94 of the 193 coins we then scored sat in Fear or worse. The rebound was quick but shallow, a 24 point jump from 24 to 48 on 12 July that still stands as the high, and the score has not returned to Neutral's upper half since. Nineteen days in, the average is 33 and the current reading is 33, a crowd sitting exactly on its own baseline, waiting to be convinced.
Data Network Fear and Greed Index History
Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.
The ledger of its first 19 days since 8 July 2026 reads 14 in Fear, 4 in Neutral, 1 in Extreme Fear and nothing above. The optimism of 12 July lasted a single close, undone by a 17 point drop to 31 the next day, and from 17 to 23 July the score locked into a seven day Fear or worse run. The price has been quieter than the mood, slipping 5.8% from $0.28 to $0.26, with the high of $0.28 on 11 July and the low of $0.26 on 23 July, the final day of that fear streak.
A narrow price range under a persistently fearful score is a specific signature: the crowd is not reacting to the chart, it is pricing uncertainty about the story. That is what probation looks like in sentiment data. Until the AI-data pivot earns believers, Data Network sits in the anxious lower third of the Fear and Greed Index, scored like a brand new asset because, in every way that matters to a crowd, it is one.

DATA Fear and Greed Index FAQ
What is the DATA Fear and Greed Index today?
The DATA Fear and Greed Index today is 22/100 on the daily view, showing Fear. It summarizes live DATA market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.
How is the DATA Fear and Greed Index calculated?
CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one DATA fear and greed reading.
What is a good DATA Fear and Greed Index reading?
There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.
How accurate is the DATA Fear and Greed Index?
It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the DATA market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.
What does the DATA Fear and Greed Index measure?
It measures the emotional state of the DATA market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.
How do I use the DATA Fear and Greed Index?
Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.
How often is the DATA Fear and Greed Index updated?
The DATA Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as DATA market conditions shift.
What does a low DATA Fear and Greed score mean?
A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the DATA market.
What does a high DATA Fear and Greed score mean?
A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the DATA market.
