What Is Axie Infinity?

Too scarred to scare.

Axie Infinity is the game that invented play-to-earn: Sky Mavis's creature-battling title on the Ronin chain that briefly turned gaming into a wage during the 2021 boom, then became that cycle's defining cautionary tale. AXS is its governance token. The crowd still holding it in 2026 has, by definition, lived through everything, and the CFGI Axie Infinity fear and greed index shows what that does to a nervous system: in 365 days of scoring, this crowd has not closed in Extreme Fear once.

The CFGI read: zero days of Extreme Fear in a year that took the price down 66.3%, from $2.63 to $0.89, is a statement. Even on 11 October 2025, when 93 of the 96 coins we then tracked were in Fear or worse and 17 of them in Extreme Fear, Axie's crowd bottomed at 23, ordinary Fear, at $1.53, and went no lower all year. The holders who remain do not scare on schedule.

Axie Infinity Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

What emotion they had, they spent in one week of January. The score hit 83 out of 100, Extreme Greed, on 23 January 2026, the exact day the price printed its high for the whole window at $2.90. Two days later came the year's steepest fall, 34 points from 75 to 41 on 25 January. Peak greed, peak price, instant comedown: a whole market cycle compressed into seventy-two hours.

Outside that week the ledger is placid: 231 days Neutral, 106 Fear, 25 Greed, 3 Extreme Greed, an average of 45. The longest gloom lasted 11 days in June 2026, the biggest jump was 31 points on 25 April, and the price low of $0.81 came quietly on 31 December 2025, weeks before the January euphoria. Set against the market-wide Fear and Greed Index, Axie reads like a veterans' club: 51st of 104 crowds by days spent in Extreme Fear, which is a polite way of saying tied at none. The game taught its players about drawdowns years ago. The index simply confirms the lesson took.
