What Is Cosmos?

Many chains, one shrug.

Cosmos calls itself the internet of blockchains, an ecosystem launched in 2019 where independent chains run their own affairs and talk to each other over the IBC protocol, with the Cosmos Hub and its ATOM token at the centre. The architecture is federated and deliberately unexcitable, and after a year of reading its crowd on the CFGI Cosmos fear and greed index, we can report the temperament matches the design.

The CFGI read: ATOM lost 71.1% of its price over the past year, falling from $4.83 to $1.40, and its crowd answered that with exactly one day of Extreme Fear. It came on 10 October 2025, a 28-point single-day collapse from 47 to 19 at $2.99, on a day when 88 of the 96 coins we then tracked were in Fear or worse. Three days later the score had jumped 23 points back to 53. One panic, quickly retracted, in 365 days.

Cosmos Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

The rest of the year was spent in the mid-range: 103 days in Fear, 221 in Neutral, 40 in Greed, and never a close in Extreme Greed. The average reading of 46 makes Cosmos the 73rd most fearful of the crowds we rank across our crypto coverage, which is to say calmer than most, despite a drawdown deeper than most. Sentiment peaked at 69 out of 100 on 6 January 2026, at $2.53, roughly half the price the year began at.

That calm has its limits. The price set its yearly low of $1.39 on 25 July 2026, the day before this window closed, yet the current reading of 35 sits in ordinary Fear, and the longest stretch in Fear or worse all year lasted just eight days, from 24 February to 3 March 2026. A crowd this composed while its asset falls by two-thirds is either the most patient cohort on the live Fear and Greed Index for the whole market, or the most anaesthetised. Scored since June 2022, ATOM has one of the longer records here, and that record says this crowd stopped flinching a long time ago.

Cosmos Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the Cosmos Fear and Greed Index today?

The Cosmos Fear and Greed Index today is 24/100 on the daily view, showing Fear. It summarizes live Cosmos market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the Cosmos Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one Cosmos fear and greed reading.

What is a good Cosmos Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the Cosmos Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the Cosmos market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the Cosmos Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the Cosmos market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the Cosmos Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the Cosmos Fear and Greed Index updated?

The Cosmos Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as Cosmos market conditions shift.

What does a low Cosmos Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the Cosmos market.

What does a high Cosmos Fear and Greed score mean?

A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the Cosmos market.

Can I get alerts when the Cosmos Fear and Greed Index changes?

Yes. CFGI alerts let you track Cosmos sentiment across daily, 4-hour, 1-hour and 15-minute timeframes. Create alerts for fear, greed, extreme readings or specific Cosmos Fear and Greed Index score changes.
