What Is Welltower?
Demography's patient crowd.
Welltower is one of the largest healthcare real estate investment trusts in North America and the biggest owner of senior living communities in the United States, with a portfolio of roughly 2,500 properties across the US, Canada and the UK. Its business is a demographic bet with a long fuse: an ageing population that needs somewhere to live, met by a supply of new buildings that stopped being financed years ago. On the CFGI Welltower fear and greed index the crowd behaves like the asset underneath it, slow, occupied and rarely frightened.
The CFGI read: Welltower has barely closed a session in Extreme Fear across 273 scored days, which puts it 246th of the stocks on our Extreme Fear table, one place off the bottom. It spent 158 sessions in Greed or better, averaged 60 out of 100, and finished the window at 75, in Greed, on the very day the share price set its high of $251.36. Price and mood topping out together on 24 July 2026 is not how most of these charts end, and it is worth noticing that the crowd's optimism was still building while the shares were making new ground.
Welltower Fear and Greed Index History
Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.
The one genuine wobble arrived at the start of June 2026. Welltower logged six sessions in Fear or worse from 28 May to 4 June and bottomed at 20 out of 100 on 2 June at $195.35, a day when 107 of the 245 stocks scored were also in Fear or worse. It was a market flinch rather than a Welltower one, and the answer came fast: on 5 June the score jumped 36 points, from 37 to 73, its largest daily gain of the window.
Its longest good mood ran 21 sessions in Greed or better from 31 October to 1 December 2025. The high, 89 out of 100 on 17 February 2026 at $215.48, closed a seven-day stretch of Extreme Greed that began on 6 February, the day after the broadest wave of stock Extreme Fear the full Fear and Greed Index recorded all year, when 34 of 246 stocks sat in the deepest zone. Welltower was climbing while the board was still shaking.
The price backed the mood: up 63.1% from $154.12 to $251.36, with the low of $150.71 set in the opening fortnight on 2 July 2025 and never revisited. The only real jolt was a 32-point drop on 17 June 2026, from 67 to 35, undone before the window closed. For a landlord crowd counting occupancy in senior housing, that qualifies as drama.

Welltower Fear and Greed Index FAQ
What is the Welltower Fear and Greed Index today?
The Welltower Fear and Greed Index today is 25/100 on the daily view, showing Fear. It summarizes live Welltower market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.
How is the Welltower Fear and Greed Index calculated?
CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one Welltower fear and greed reading.
What is a good Welltower Fear and Greed Index reading?
There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.
How accurate is the Welltower Fear and Greed Index?
It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the Welltower market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.
What does the Welltower Fear and Greed Index measure?
It measures the emotional state of the Welltower market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.
How do I use the Welltower Fear and Greed Index?
Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.
How often is the Welltower Fear and Greed Index updated?
The Welltower Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as Welltower market conditions shift.
What does a low Welltower Fear and Greed score mean?
A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the Welltower market.
What does a high Welltower Fear and Greed score mean?
A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the Welltower market.
