What Is Truist Financial?

Truist Financial is the Charlotte based bank created in December 2019 when BB&T and SunTrust merged, a deal that folded two southeastern institutions into one of the largest lenders in the United States, with around two thousand branches across fifteen states and Washington DC. It does the ordinary work of a big regional bank: deposits, mortgages, commercial lending, wealth management.
On the CFGI Truist fear and greed index it behaves accordingly. In 273 sessions between June 2025 and July 2026 it closed exactly one day in Extreme Fear and exactly one in Extreme Greed. The other 271 were spent in between, 121 of them in Neutral.
The CFGI read: Both extremes were single days, and both were about the calendar rather than the company. The Extreme Greed close, 80 out of 100, came on 3 July 2025 at $45.54, in the opening fortnight of the window. The Extreme Fear close, 19 out of 100, came on 10 October 2025 at $42.31, on a day when 139 of the 247 stocks scored were already in Fear or worse. Truist went where the board went and came straight back. Its average of 52 out of 100 ranks it 162nd of the stocks we rank for fearfulness, and 176th by Extreme Fear days.

Truist logged sixteen consecutive sessions in Greed or better between 4 and 26 December 2025, then an equal and opposite sixteen sessions in Fear or worse between 27 February and 20 March 2026. That second run ended on 20 March 2026, the broadest single day of stock market fear in the whole window, when 169 of the 245 names scored sat in Fear or worse. Bank crowds move with the board rather than ahead of it, which is why they read so cleanly on the Fear and Greed Index.
The price has done considerably better than the mood implies. Truist opened at $41.05, which was also its low on 23 June 2025, peaked at $55.81 on 6 February 2026 and finished 26.1% higher than it began. Through all of that the score never spent more than one session in either outer zone, and its two sharpest moves, a 31 point fall on 20 July 2026 from 66 to 35 and a 24 point rise on 4 June 2026 from 42 to 66, both landed back inside the middle of the dial.
It closes at 53 out of 100 on 24 July 2026, Neutral, one point above its own average. For a stock up more than a quarter across thirteen months, that is a remarkably unexcited crowd, and the consistency is the point.
