What Is Southern Copper Corporation?

The metal sets the mood.

Southern Copper is one of the world's largest integrated copper producers, majority owned by Grupo Mexico and operating open pit mines, smelters and refineries in Peru and Mexico, with molybdenum, zinc and silver coming up alongside the copper. It has been listed in New York and Lima since 1996 and holds some of the largest copper reserves of any listed miner. Copper is the metal that construction, power grids and electrification all run on, which makes this an industrial cycle bet wearing a mining company's clothes. It joined the CFGI stock board on 10 July 2026, so the Southern Copper fear and greed index has 11 sessions behind it.

The CFGI read: In its first 11 days the sentiment score has tracked the tape almost step for step. Southern Copper's floor, 34 out of 100 on 17 July 2026, landed on the same session as its lowest share price of the window, $171.54. Its ceiling, 76 out of 100 on 22 July, landed on the same session as its highest, $194.91. Five sessions apart, both extremes matched by the price. For a miner that is the relationship you would expect, and it is worth flagging because plenty of names on our board do the opposite.

Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

The zone map is short but already tilted towards optimism: 5 days in Greed, 4 in Neutral and 2 in Fear, with neither extreme zone touched. The Fear days came first, on 17 July and 20 July 2026, and the exit from them was quick, a 25 point jump on 21 July from 39 to 64 that opened three consecutive sessions in Greed or better. On the day it bottomed, 94 assets on our board were in Fear or worse and 7 were in Extreme Fear, and the miner never came close to joining that extreme.

Then it gave the enthusiasm back. On 24 July 2026 the score fell 27 points, from 73 to 46, the largest single day move of its short record, and Southern Copper closes in Neutral with an average of 57 out of 100 and a price up 2.6% across the fortnight, $175.75 to $180.31. Eleven sessions is not a history and we will not dress it up as one. What it is is a clean first reading of a crowd that appears to take its cue from copper itself rather than from the wider tape, and that is the kind of independence worth checking against the full crypto and stock Fear and Greed Index as the record grows.

Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index today?

The Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index today is 56/100 on the daily view, showing Neutral. It summarizes live Southern Copper Corporation market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one Southern Copper Corporation fear and greed reading.

What is a good Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the Southern Copper Corporation market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the Southern Copper Corporation market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index updated?

The Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as Southern Copper Corporation market conditions shift.

What does a low Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the Southern Copper Corporation market.

What does a high Southern Copper Corporation Fear and Greed score mean?
