The floor came in winter: four consecutive sessions of Extreme Fear from 3 to 6 February 2026, bottoming at 13 on 5 February at $136.48, the same day 34 of 246 stocks closed in Extreme Fear, the broadest panic all year on the stock side of the Fear and Greed Index.
There has been no durable repair. The longest spell below Neutral, 21 consecutive sessions, ran from 5 June to 7 July 2026, and the full ledger reads 104 days of Fear plus 12 of Extreme Fear against 69 of Greed and 15 of Extreme Greed, for an average of 47. The crowd still remembers how to hope, a 27-point jump on 13 April 2026 from 32 to 59 proved that, but hope has not held. Both extremes richly visited within a single year is the signature of a story stock, and this crowd lived every chapter.
