Kroger is one of the largest traditional supermarket operators in the United States, a business Bernard Kroger started in Cincinnati in 1883 that now spans banners from Ralphs to Fred Meyer to Harris Teeter. Grocery is a pennies business, and the crowd on the CFGI Kroger fear and greed index trades it that way, with patience as thin as the margins.
The CFGI read: The window opened at the very top. Kroger's first scored day, 23 June 2025, was also its ceiling, 83 out of 100 in Extreme Greed with the price at $74, and the mood lasted two sessions before a 35-point collapse on 26 June, from 77 to 42. It never saw that zone again, and almost exactly a year later, on 22 June 2026, it printed its floor of 16 out of 100 at $55.76.

In between there were real recoveries: a 25-point jump on 19 August 2025 from 30 to 55, an 11-session run in Greed or better from 2 to 17 February 2026, and a price high of $75.60 on 13 March 2026, briefly back above where the window began. But the balance across 273 sessions reads 96 days in Fear or worse against 72 in Greed or better, an average of 47 out of 100, and a closing read of 32, still in Fear, the wariest aisle of the supermarket on the Fear and Greed Index.
