What Is HCA Healthcare?

The round trip.

HCA Healthcare is one of the largest private hospital operators in the United States, a Nashville-built network of hospitals and surgery centres whose earnings ride on admissions, surgical volumes and the grinding economics of insurance reimbursement. Hospitals are supposed to be defensive. On the CFGI HCA Healthcare fear and greed index the crowd tells a different story: this is one of the most fear-prone panels we score, attached to a price that went almost nowhere.

The CFGI read: HCA's price ended the window up just 1.2%, from $378.72 to $383.17, yet the crowd travelled the entire dial to get there: from 15 out of 100, Extreme Fear, on 25 July 2025 at $334.32, to 85, Extreme Greed, on 25 November 2025 at $515.85, and back to 56, Neutral, by 24 July 2026. Its 12 days in Extreme Fear rank 18th most among the stocks we track. Flat price, full spectrum.

HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

The July 2025 break was HCA's alone. On the day of its floor just 34 of 247 stocks sat in Fear or worse and only 4 in Extreme Fear, so the 3-session Extreme Fear streak from 24 to 28 July was a private verdict, and the price low of $334.32 printed with it. The turn was just as sharp: a 34-point jump on 30 July, from 28 to 62, opened a 29-session run at Greed or better that lasted until 9 September 2025, the longest conviction stretch of the window, ended by a 36-point drop on 10 September from 64 to 28.

Spring 2026 brought the long grind instead: 21 sessions in Fear or worse from 15 April to 13 May, well after the price had peaked at $545.13 on 9 March. Across the window the crowd split its time almost evenly, 94 days in Greed against 77 in Fear, and averaged exactly 50, the dead centre of the combined crypto and stock Fear and Greed Index. The price round-tripped, and the crowd felt every mile of it.

HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index today?

The HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index today is 47/100 on the daily view, showing Neutral. It summarizes live HCA Healthcare market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one HCA Healthcare fear and greed reading.

What is a good HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the HCA Healthcare market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the HCA Healthcare market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index updated?

The HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as HCA Healthcare market conditions shift.

What does a low HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the HCA Healthcare market.

What does a high HCA Healthcare Fear and Greed score mean?

A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the HCA Healthcare market.
