Compare Applied Materials with the whole-market reading on the Stock Market Fear and Greed Index, or every company on the stock fear and greed directory.

What Is Applied Materials?

The toolmaker's fever.

Applied Materials sells the machines that make chips: the deposition, etching and inspection tools every advanced fab on earth depends on, from a company founded in Santa Clara in 1967 that became the picks and shovels trade of the AI build-out. On the CFGI Applied Materials fear and greed index that leverage reads as heat. The stock rose 210.7% between June 2025 and July 2026, from $171.96 to $534.35, the crowd averaged 61 out of 100, and 161 of its 273 sessions closed in Greed or better, 42 of them in Extreme Greed.

The CFGI read: Its deepest panic was entirely its own. On 19 August 2025 Applied Materials bottomed at 16 out of 100 at $162.22, the second day of a two-session Extreme Fear visit, and it was the only stock in Extreme Fear on the entire stock board that day. A company problem, not a market one. Ten months later the opposite extreme peaked instead: an eight-session Extreme Greed run ended on 22 June 2026 at the window high of 88, with the price at $640.18 and still climbing.

Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

Then came the fortnight that defines a chip-cycle crowd. The price topped at $723 on 30 June 2026. Two sessions later, on 2 July, the score collapsed 47 points from 81 to 34, the biggest single-day drop of its window, and eight days after that, on 10 July, it jumped 38 from 34 to 72. Same company, same fab schedules, an entirely repriced mood twice in two weeks. Semiconductor equipment is a long-cycle business read by a short-cycle crowd, and the full crypto and stock Fear and Greed Index exists to measure exactly that gap.

The calm underneath is easy to miss. By average fearfulness Applied Materials ranks 239th of the stocks we track, only eight crowds run calmer, and it opened 2026 with an 18-session run in Greed or better from 5 to 29 January. Yet it closed the window at 39, in Fear, on 24 July 2026: a tripled stock with a braced crowd, still remembering that the price had been $156.25 on 3 September 2025.

Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index today?

The Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index today is 56/100 on the daily view, showing Neutral. It summarizes live Applied Materials market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one Applied Materials fear and greed reading.

What is a good Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the Applied Materials market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the Applied Materials market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index updated?

The Applied Materials Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as Applied Materials market conditions shift.

What does a low Applied Materials Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the Applied Materials market.

What does a high Applied Materials Fear and Greed score mean?

A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the Applied Materials market.
