What Is EigenLayer?

Ethereum's second job.

EigenLayer invented restaking: the idea that staked Ether can be pledged a second time to secure additional services built on Ethereum, turning the network's validator base into a marketplace of borrowed trust. EIGEN is the token of that marketplace, one of the defining ideas of crypto's 2024 vintage, and its crowd on the CFGI EigenLayer fear and greed index has a distinctive habit: it holds the middle.

The CFGI read: EigenLayer spent 215 of the past 365 days in Neutral, with the extremes seldom in the picture, through a window in which the price surrendered 85.3%. Its lowest reading, 21 out of 100 on 11 October 2025 at $1.13, came on the broadest panic in our record, when 93 of the 96 coins we then scored sat in Fear or worse and 17 in Extreme Fear. Even then, the restaking crowd held inside plain Fear.

EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

That washout had a prelude: EIGEN's hardest single-day fall, 22 points from 49 to 27, came on 10 October 2025, the eve of the market-wide low and only three days after the window's price high of $1.981 on 7 October 2025. The peak mood had already been set weeks earlier, 73 out of 100 on 19 September 2025 at $1.851, a few days after its longest run of Greed or better, six days from 10 September 2025.

Since then the story is decay met with a shrug: a 15-day stretch in Fear or worse from 30 January 2026 to 13 February 2026, a price low of $0.151 on 2 April 2026, and a drift to $0.2075 by the window's end. EIGEN closes at 32, on the Fear side of the full Fear and Greed Index. A year of an 85% drawdown, answered with 114 days of Fear and next to no panic: Ethereum's second job has a first-rate poker face.

EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index today?

The EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index today is 39/100 on the daily view, showing Fear. It summarizes live EigenLayer market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one EigenLayer fear and greed reading.

What is a good EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the EigenLayer market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the EigenLayer market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index updated?

The EigenLayer Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as EigenLayer market conditions shift.

What does a low EigenLayer Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the EigenLayer market.

What does a high EigenLayer Fear and Greed score mean?

A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the EigenLayer market.
