What Is Bitcoin Cash?
The escaped fork.
Bitcoin Cash is a 2017 fork of Bitcoin built around larger blocks for cheaper payments; its token is BCH. The fork left Bitcoin's code behind in 2017; the CFGI Bitcoin Cash fear and greed index shows the crowd has left too. BCH holds just a 56% match with Bitcoin's sentiment moves, far below every loyal mid-cap, and it shares no more of its mood with its fellow fork on the Litecoin Fear and Greed Index, another 56% match. Two coins from one codebase, two entirely different crowds.
The CFGI read: Bitcoin Cash topped alone in January 2026, broke alone in June 2026, and matches nothing on the index above 56%, including Litecoin. In CFGI data, BCH's crowd has completed the separation its codebase began in 2017.
Bitcoin Cash Fear and Greed Index History: June 2025 to June 2026
The price history of the year to June 2026 runs on its own calendar to match. While the rest of the list peaked in July or October 2025, BCH's price high of $653 arrived on 3 January 2026, and the February capitulation that took 28% to 39% off the majors cost BCH a comparatively shallow 18%. It runs hot for a quiet token, with the third-wildest daily sentiment score in our top fifteen and 91 days spent in Greed across the year.
Its breaking point was its own as well. Between 26 May and 4 June 2026 the price fell 30%, the deepest fall of all fifteen tokens in that window, and on 4 June BCH printed its yearly sentiment low of 16, deep in Extreme Fear territory, at a price of $243, one of only two tokens on this list whose low landed in the market-wide fear of early June 2026 rather than in October 2025 or February 2026. By 10 June 2026, the end of our window, the price stood at $198, down 55% on the year from $440. A fork that tops alone, breaks alone, and bottoms alone is no longer a fork in any sense our index can detect.
