What Is Doge?

The joke that grew up.

Dogecoin started in 2013 as a two-engineer joke about a Shiba Inu, built to lampoon the coin mania of the day, and accidentally became the original meme coin and the front door through which a retail generation entered crypto. On the CFGI Doge fear and greed index the punchline is different: the crowd holding the most famous joke in the market is one of the more level-headed we track.

The CFGI read: Doge's sentiment and price peaked on the same day. Its rare Extreme Greed reading of 82 out of 100, on 13 September 2025, printed with the price at its window high of $0.29, and the mood cooled again straight after. Across 365 days the crowd spent 213 in Neutral, seldom fell into Extreme Fear, and averaged 46 out of 100, matching the whole market's own average of 46.

Doge Fear and Greed Index History

Q3 2026 breakdown. The table below updates daily.

The worst day tells you more about the market than about Doge. Its low, 21 out of 100 on 11 October 2025 with the price at $0.185, landed on the single broadest panic in our record, when 93 of the 96 coins we then scored sat in Fear or worse and 17 of them in Extreme Fear. Doge fell with everyone and, unlike many, stopped short of the extreme zone.

The year's longest gloom was 13 days in Fear or worse from 31 January 2026 to 12 February 2026, and the sharpest single-day break came early, a 25-point drop from 65 to 40 on 25 August 2025. The recovery muscle is real too: a 21-point jump from 36 to 57 on 4 March 2026 was the biggest of the year, and by average reading Doge ranks 76th most fearful of the coins in our full rankings, calmer than most.

Price is the sober part of the story: down 69.7% across the window to $0.073, with the low of $0.069 set only days ago on 23 July 2026. Yet Doge closes the window at 47, Neutral, dead centre of the main Fear and Greed Index. The joke coin's crowd has learned to take a beating without theatrics.

Doge Fear and Greed Index FAQ

What is the Doge Fear and Greed Index today?

The Doge Fear and Greed Index today is 42/100 on the daily view, showing Neutral. It summarizes live Doge market sentiment on a 0 to 100 scale.

How is the Doge Fear and Greed Index calculated?

CFGI combines price action, impulse, volatility, volume, technicals, social sentiment, dominance, search interest, whale activity and order book pressure into one Doge fear and greed reading.

What is a good Doge Fear and Greed Index reading?

There is no single good reading, because the index measures mood rather than value. Extreme Fear below 25 marks the points where sentiment is most washed out, and Extreme Greed above 75 the points carrying the most risk, so what counts as good depends on whether you are buying or selling.

How accurate is the Doge Fear and Greed Index?

It reads sentiment accurately and predicts price poorly, and those are two different things. The score reflects what the Doge market feels right now across ten live inputs, so treat it as a risk gauge rather than a forecast: it tells you how one-sided the crowd has become, not what happens next.

What does the Doge Fear and Greed Index measure?

It measures the emotional state of the Doge market on a 0 to 100 scale, from extreme fear at 0 to extreme greed at 100. CFGI builds that number from ten indicators including price action, volatility, volume, momentum, technicals and social sentiment, rather than from price alone.

How do I use the Doge Fear and Greed Index?

Most people use it to size risk rather than to time entries. The extreme readings are the useful ones: they flag when the crowd has become one-sided, which is when caution costs least and greed costs most. Read it alongside price and volume, never on its own.

How often is the Doge Fear and Greed Index updated?

The Doge Fear and Greed Index is updated every 15 minutes, so the live reading can change as Doge market conditions shift.

What does a low Doge Fear and Greed score mean?

A low score (0 to 39) signals fear or extreme fear, where traders are cautious, risk-averse or pessimistic about the Doge market.

What does a high Doge Fear and Greed score mean?

A high score (60 to 100) signals greed or extreme greed, where confidence, risk appetite and bullish sentiment dominate the Doge market.

Can I get alerts when the Doge Fear and Greed Index changes?

Yes. CFGI alerts let you track Doge sentiment across daily, 4-hour, 1-hour and 15-minute timeframes. Create alerts for fear, greed, extreme readings or specific Doge Fear and Greed Index score changes.
